J.L. Ilsley High School is a Canadian high school located in Spryfield in the western part of Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality. The school is named after James Lorimer Ilsley, a former federal cabinet minister who served in Prime Minister William Lyon MacKenzie King's World War II government and was later Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia. The school opened in 1971.
J.L. Ilsley is home to the Judges sports teams. They have teams in many sports, including; hockey, softball, volleyball, cross country running, track and field, volleyball, soccer, American football, mathematics, and badminton.
The school is known for an unofficial holiday called Precalentines Day developed in 2004 by a Pre-Calculus class.[1] It takes place on December 14 of every year, and is a holiday for people to celebrate their love of mathematics. The holiday's influence is slowly growing and being recognized in schools around the Halifax, Nova Scotia and in universities across Canada.

J.L. Ilsley's Students' Council has a different structure from that of most other high schools in the area. Each Students' Council consists of seven Executive Council members and approximately twenty-five other members from grades 10 to 12. The Executive Council is elected in the April preceding their term in office and is made up of two Co-Presidents and five Vice Presidents.
